Manufacturing arts

Where workshops meet the world

From the leather of Scandicci to the pecorino of the Mugello, from Florentine goldsmithing to the olive oil of the Maremma

In its historic districts Tuscany holds one part of the Italian mosaic of know-how — leatherwork, goldsmithing, ceramics, glass, marble, weaving, and the oil, wine, cheeses, cured meats, preserves and liqueurs the territory produces every day.

MANUARTI is the editorial system that tells the story of Tuscan manufacturing arts and food and wine, makes them recognisable to the world that is looking for them, and builds the digital place where the workshops and markets of the territory meet their national and international public.

Where to begin

The territory's heritage, brought together

Hills planted with vines and olive groves, a farmhouse among cypresses, harvested wheat fields and ridges fading at the horizon.

The territories

Ten provinces, a single mosaic

Every Tuscan province is a district with its own crafts, its own markets and its own materials. The project presents them online one by one: an identifiable area, geolocated, navigable by anyone looking for it from the other side of the world.

The workshops

The artisans of the network

The hands that keep the know-how of the territory alive. Every workshop has its own page: the craft, the techniques, the products, the place where the work is done and the people who do it.

Discover the workshops
A blacksmith hammers a glowing bar on the anvil as sparks fly, the lit forge and a rack of hammers behind him.

Traditions

The crafts handed down through generations

Techniques, materials and gestures that time has not erased. The documentation of artisan know-how which, without a system to represent it, stays confined to the places where it is practised.

E poi

Dove il territorio si tocca

Turismo esperienziale

Le botteghe che aprono la porta

Corsi, visite, degustazioni, tavolate. Chi produce apre il laboratorio, il campo, la cantina — e il mestiere si impara guardandolo fare.

Who makes the project

Five parties, a single infrastructure

Two offices of the Unione Artigiani Italiani, a national federation of public-area traders, an international network of export managers, a technical partner.
